1951 Studebaker Champion Roadster Pickup

This car started life as a 1951 Studebaker Champion 2 Door Sedan. Sam converted it into a Roadster Pickup by cutting the roof off and cutting off the back half of the car 4" behind the doors. He hand formed the bed from 16 gauge steel and added 48 Ford pickup fenders.

Sam built the chassis using 2x3 tubing and added a Mustang II front end and a 9" Ford rear end, with 5.14:1 gears, on coil overs and ladder bars. The engine is a 631 HP 383 cu in Chevrolet. Speed equipment includes a Cola crank, Ross 14.6:1 pistons, 6" rods, Lunati roller cam with all roller valve train, 208 stainless valves in the Brodix heads and a Carb Shop 1000 cfm carb. The car has run a best ET of 9.82 @ 136 mph on gas.
