1950 Studebaker 2 Door "Convertible"

David Nelson
Marshall, MI

Here is what I thought was a chopped 50 convertible with a Carson style top when the photos were sent to me, but it actually started life as a 2 door sedan. The roof was donated by a 52 Chevy and was padded to look like a Carson top. A 72 Chevy Nova donated the subframe and rear end and it runs a Chevy 350 hooked to a TH350 transmission. A custom made roll pan replaces the rear bumper and other custom touches are the spotlights, molded side pipes and skirts. In the construction photos below, provided by David's son Lee, it looks like the rear fenders were widened about 3 or 4 inches. The interior features bucket seats with a console between them and the dash is out of a 1939 Pontiac. Although the photos don't show them, the paint has ghost flames.
