1948 Studebaker Champion Starlight Coupe

Jason Rock
Raytown, MO

Jason's project is going to be one cool looking Starlight Coupe when he's done. Jason fabricated a tube chassis and added an air ride system so it can set on the ground. It has a Mustang II rack & pinion set up and a Ford 9" rear end with a triangulated four link. It is powered by a small block Ford and a Ford C-6 transmission completes the drive train.

Jason added a 50 front clip and removed the front bumper. The rear bumper is a reshaped 52 Cadillac front bumper. Other custom features are the 39 Ford headlights and 49 Ford taillights with windsplits.

The dash is custom made with 59 Cadillac parts including the steering column and wheel. Seats are from a mid 60's T-bird.

Jason said this has been a slow project since he's only able to work on it when he isn't busy building other cars for customers in his Rock's Rod & Custom shop. His coupe is at the bottom of his to do list and may stay there for awhile if this is an example of the fine work he does. Hopefully he'll keep us updated with new photos as he makes progress with his car.
