1951 Studebaker Commander 2 Door Sedan

Roy Fregon
Australia

This 1951 2 Door Commander Sedan was exported to Australia from Texas in the early 90's. Roy's daughter Joanne found it in Sydney some 10 years later and bought it.

Roy and Jo got right to work building the car. The car was set up with a 302 Ford Windsor, C-4 and Ford rear end. They grafted a Toyota Crown front clip to the Studebaker frame and that gave them right hand drive, power steering and disc brakes with a Ford bolt pattern. A Falcon steering column bolted up to the Toyota box, which made for an easy conversion.

When Jo considered selling her car, because she had moved to the country where there are lots of unpaved roads, Roy came to the rescue and bought it off her to keep this cool car in the family.
